In a small ordinary Bak Kut Teh (a local Malaysian cuisine) shop upstairs in Klang, there live the owner Ah Cai with his three children - eldest son Ah Hock, daughter Ah Bee and youngest son Ah Seng. Their mother passed away in an unfortunate accident years ago. Ever since the accident, business in the shop worsens year after year. Since young, Ah Hock and Ah Bee studied extremely hard and grown-up to becoming a successful lawyer and top sales manager respectively. Ah Seng who is 10 years younger than them, aspired to become a film director when he grows up. However, his ambition is inhibited by his siblings.

Ah Hock and Ah Bee are both ashamed of the bad image reflected from their father's drastically declined business upon them and afraid it will affect their present social status. They suggest Ah Cai to shut his business but was rejected by him, they even attempt to cheat on his signature to sell the shop. The worsening filiation forces them to move out, leaving their father and Ah Seng on the shop upstairs. Ah Seng then discovers a hidden secret by his beloved father......

煮肉骨茶很简单。12种不同的药材，煮成一锅水  猪肉排列是的叠在锅里，然后开始熬汤

熬汤的时间要刚刚好 - 不可太长，以免肉变软；也不可太短，以免药味透不到肉里，家也是如此

​

故事发生在巴生一档平凡的肉骨茶档。档口老板名为李亚财（阿财）。阿财妻子在多年前因一场以外而去世了。他们有三个儿女：大儿子李家福（阿福）；女儿李美美（阿美）；和小儿子李家诚（阿诚）。自结婚以来，阿财一直靠着他每况愈下的肉骨茶生意养活一家四口。孩子们从小发愤图强地学习，阿福和阿美长大后终于走向了上流社会，成为一名律师和销售界的女强人。小儿子阿诚从小喜爱摄录，拥有当未来电影导演的理想。

出人头地后，阿福和阿美开始嫌弃父亲的肉骨茶生意，认为那是低俗而且会影响他们的身份和形象的工作，并常常向父亲提出结束档口营业的念头，甚至去到不折手段地强逼他把店给卖掉。渐渐地他们父子女关系越来越差，他们决定搬到城里去住，只剩下阿诚跟父亲在老店屋里相依为命，就在这时候阿诚发现了父亲一直瞒着他们全家的秘密......
